Physical-chemical properties of biofuels and its effects
The physical-chemical properties of solid biofuels are determined, studying their effect on thermal conversion to energy. Laboratory tests are performed in order to accurately control the different variables of the process. Special attention is paid on properties related to corrosion and ash sinterization, problems that combustion plants have to prevent.
The complete analysis of liquid biofuels can also be performed: cold filter plugging point, acidity and iodine value, oxidation stability test, viscosity and density, water content, fatty acid esters, glycerol (free and total), mono-, di- and triglycerides, PUFAS content, P, Na, K, Ca and Mg, turbidity, lubricity, heating value and distillation.
