Department of Technologies and Information Systems

The Department of Technologies and Information Systems (DTSI) is located at the Escuela Superior de Informática from Ciudad Real. The Department is divided into two areas of knowledge:

  • Computer Architecture and Technologies
  • Computer Languages and Systems

Currently the DTSI is formed by about 85 members among Teaching and Research Staff (PDI), Administration and Services Staff (PAS), Research Staff in Training (PIF) and Student Representatives. The faculty of this department is made up of University Professors, Tenured University Professors, Hired Doctors, Assistant Doctors, Assistant Professors, Associate Professors and pre and post doctoral fellows. The DTSI teaches at the University of Castilla-La Mancha, specifically at the Ciudad Real and Toledo campuses, and in the following degrees: Degree in Computer Engineering (School of Computer Science and Faculty of Social Sciences of Talavera de la Reina), University Master's Degree in Computer Engineering (School of Computer Science), Degrees in Mechanical, Electrical, and Mining and Energy Engineering (School of Mining and Industrial Engineering of Almadén), University Master's Degree in Public Auditing, University Master's Degree in Economic Data Modeling and Analysis (Faculty of Law and Social Sciences), University Master's Degree in Secondary School and High School Teacher (Faculty of Education), Degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace, and Industrial and Automatic Electronics (School of Industrial and Aerospace Engineering), and Degree in International Studies (Faculty of Law and Social Sciences).

Most of the research developed within the DTSI is applied research, and carried out within the scope of the 10 existing research groups (associated with the Institute of Information Technologies and Systems):

  • Air Research. Research and Development in Applied Artificial Intelligence, Visualization, Rendering, E-Commerce and Interactive Solutions. Application to real problems.
  • Alarcos. Specialized in software and information quality, it covers a wide range of lines of work (systems operations, IT management, software engineering, physical systems, etc.) and professional services at the service of real problems. ) and professional services at the service of society, for the improvement of the digital world.
  • ArCo group. Design of complex systems with both hardware and software components, with special emphasis on aspects such as resource utilization, performance and communications, and their application in industry.
  • CHICO. application of new methods, techniques, tools and processes of computer engineering to scientific and technological development in the areas of Educational Computing and e-Learning Systems and Human-Computer Interaction.
  • Dec-Tau. Researches formal methods applied to the integration of declarative multi-paradigm languages (i.e., languages with logical, functional, and fuzzy logic features) and to the automatic transformation of declarative programs.
  • GSyA Group. Focuses on the security of processes, techniques, methodologies, etc. for the development of software products, as well as on enterprise information security management and risk analysis.
  • MAmI Research. Technological solutions and applied research through intelligent, sensorized and adaptive environments mainly in the field of health.
  • ORETO. Focused on the application of knowledge in AI techniques to the use and development of soft-computing systems, approximate reasoning, and qualitative and linguistic modeling, as well as sensorization and analysis in various fields.
  • SciCom. Development and application of computational techniques for the treatment of complex networks in systems of scientific and technological interest.
  • Smile Group. Application of Soft-Computing techniques in Internet Information Retrieval, Learning and Decision Support Systems and more recently in the Analysis of Sentiments and Opinions.

The aim is to contribute to the development of knowledge in the region of Castilla-La Mancha, in Spain and also internationally, through the participation of the research groups in projects of various kinds, related to the research lines characteristic of each group. The DTSI groups also carry out tasks of technology transfer and dissemination, always within the areas of computer science and information technologies.

In addition, DTSI offers its support to the organization of R+D+i activities and scientific dissemination events, both national and international.

You can find detailed information about DTSI in this web site and, if you wish, you can contact its management team.
