PROFILE OF ADMISSION TO THE DOCTORAL PROGRAM IN RESEARCH IN HUMANITIES, ARTS AND EDUCATION:
The Doctoral Program in Humanities, Arts and Education at the University of Castilla-La Mancha offers 40 places, 25 full-time and 15 part-time. In general, students in this Doctoral Program must have a humanistic profile with an interest in researching topics related to the disciplines that fall under the heading of "Humanities, Arts and Education".
Specifically, the Doctorate is aimed at students with previous training not only at the Bachelor's but also at the Master's level in some of the humanistic and social disciplines covered by this Program, such as History, Art History, Fine Arts, Literature, Linguistics, Modern Languages, Education, Humanities, Geography, Journalism and Communication.
Students with other educational profiles (philosophical, anthropological, sociological, scientific, technical, legal, etc.) who are interested in research and interdisciplinary deepening in the aforementioned areas of Arts, Humanities and Education will also be admitted, in accordance with the objectives of this doctoral program, and such admission will be made with the requirement of the corresponding and appropriate complementary training established for each case by the Academic Committee of the Doctorate.
Access requirements and admission criteria.
In accordance with the provisions of Article 6 and the second section of the second additional provision of Royal Decree 99/2011, of January 28 and Article 6 of the Regulations for Doctoral Studies at the UCL approved by the Governing Council on November 20, 2012, those who are in one of the situations specified in the section "Access for new doctoral students" in this link can access an official doctoral program.
Application and admission criteria.
The admission criteria will be those established in the aforementioned Regulations for Doctoral Studies at the UCLM, which are as follows:
- The suitability of the studies that allow access to the third cycle, always in relation to the object of research on which he/she wishes to prepare his/her doctoral thesis.
- The applicant's curriculum vitae.
- The applicant's dedication to carry out his/her doctoral thesis work and the complementary training that is accredited.
- In general, the criteria established by the academic committee, and which must have been reflected in the program's verification report by the Academic Committee of the Doctoral Program, publicizing them through the information systems prior to access and admission of students.
In this sense, the following weighting of the contents of the Curriculum of the applicants is established:
- FOR ACCESS to the Doctoral Program, the ACADEMIC ACADEMIC RECORD WILL BE VALUED WITH 75%, which will be broken down into 50% FOR THE ACADEMIC RECORD OF THE MASTER'S DEGREE with which access and 25% for the academic record of the GRADUATE DEGREE OR EQUIVALENT.
- 15% for the knowledge of a LANGUAGE USUALLY USED IN THE SCIENTIFIC COMMUNITY with a MINIMUM level B.1, according to the European Framework of Reference for Languages. In any case, it must be accredited before the reading of the doctoral thesis. If the student enrolls for the Doctorate in any of THE MODERN LANGUAGES, THE ACCREDITATION OF LEVEL C.1 IN THE CORRESPONDING LANGUAGE WILL BE REQUIRED.
- 10% for the pre-doctoral curriculum (scholarships, stays in other university centers in previous educational cycles, other languages, various merits, etc.).
* THE ADMISSION CRITERIA AND PROCEDURES FOR PART-TIME STUDENTS WILL BE THE SAME AS THOSE CONTEMPLATED FOR FULL-TIME STUDENTS.
Admission:
The Academic Committee of the Program must decide on the admission of the applicant within the period determined in the calendar established for each academic year by the International Doctoral School of the UCLM.
IN THE CASE OF STUDENTS WHO LACK THE COMPLETE PREVIOUS TRAINING DEFINED IN THE RECOMMENDED ADMISSION PROFILE OF THE DOCTORAL PROGRAM IN HUMANITIES, ARTS AND EDUCATION, THE ACADEMIC COMMITTEE OF THE DOCTORAL PROGRAM MAY INCLUDE AS A REQUIREMENT FOR ADMISSION THE REQUIREMENT OF SPECIFIC TRAINING COMPLEMENTS TO ALL CANDIDATES WHOSE TRAINING COMES FROM OTHER MASTERS OTHER THAN THOSE SPECIFICALLY ESTABLISHED AS RESEARCH MASTERS IN SOME OF THE AREAS OF THE HUMANITIES, ARTS AND EDUCATION. THIS COMPLEMENTARY TRAINING WILL CONSIST IN THE COMPLETION OF METHODOLOGICAL COURSES RELATED IN THE MEMORIAL OF THIS DOCTORATE and which are detailed below. This complementary training will in no case exceed the 18 credits required, and in any case the contents and training activities, as well as their evaluation, will be those of the subjects indicated as training complements in accordance with what is established in the corresponding teaching guides of the respective subjects, whether of Degree or of the Masters taught in the Faculties that make up this Doctoral Program. These training complements will have to be carried out OBLIGATORY DURING THE FIRST YEAR OF ACADEMIC TUTORSHIP OR, IF THE DOCTORATE IS A PART-TIME DOCTORATE, DURING TWO YEARS OF TUTORSHIP.
- If the agreement of the academic committee is in favor of admission, the committee will assign a doctoral tutor, and must communicate this to both the applicant and the tutor.
- If the committee's decision is against admission, it must inform the applicant and the International Doctoral School, indicating the reasons for its refusal based on the criteria indicated in the previous article. Applicants who meet the requirements and are not admitted, if applicable, may file a complaint with the International Doctoral School, which will obtain the reports it deems appropriate for its resolution.
- In the case of students with special educational needs derived from disability, the appropriate support and counseling services will be established, which will evaluate the need for possible curricular adaptations, itineraries or alternative studies.
